This is “Are You Only Chasing Safety?”, please feel free to check out the rest of my distractions!
When you were a little kid, did you have a night light?
Maybe you were afraid of monsters in your closet or under your bed. Maybe you just didn’t like being left alone. Maybe you just didn’t like staring into nothing.
If you’re like me, you have spent most of your life trying to make sure that everything about your life is safe and secure.
Do you know that God wants to change that?
Are You Ready To Give Up A Lifestyle Of Safety For Christ?
We are brought up to make sure that everything in our world is nice and locked up tightly so that no one can get in and hurt us, physically or emotionally.
You have probably been told by others (and maybe you tell yourself) that you have to have your financial future secure: get a great paying career, make lots of money, invest well so you can retire.
You have probably made sure to live in the best neighborhoods, where you can live pleasantly with a white picket fence and happy, smiley neighbors (if any at all), yet still smart enough to have all the locks and alarms ready just in case.
I have a secret for you. Come in a little closer and I’ll whisper it in your ear:
Jesus did not promise you earthly safety when you come to Him! Tweet This!
Jesus Promised Persecution For His Disciples!
Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you…
John 15: 20 (NKJV)
You will not find a time when Jesus has promised His church that they will be safe from earthly harm, that you will be protected from any hurt or pain or unhappiness.
He just said that He would be with you (check Matthew 28: 20 in your Bibles, friends)!
Wherever you go, wherever God leads you, Jesus will be with you.
Have you ever done anything dangerous for the Gospel of Jesus Christ? Leave your answer in the comments!
“Safe?” said Mr. Beaver. “Who said anything about safe? Course he isn’t safe, but he’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.”
