This is part of Organizing For A Focused Christian Life, a Blog Series.
You may have come to a point where you really want to make some changes to how your home is organized and have mentally and spiritually come to the conclusion that you are ready to do it, but you still don’t know where to start!
Are you looking around your home and thinking that it is such a mess that you could never get it to a point where you’d be an undistracted Christian?
You’re right!
If all you’re doing is looking around and thinking about how terrible your situation is, then you are absolutely correct in your thinking that you will never get anything done.
Instead, think about the one thing that is the most distracting thing for you and addressing it first, moving on from one thing to the next.
I don’t expect that any of us will ever be perfectly undistracted Christians, but we can minimize them by taking one step at a time to put them in their proper place and perspective.
Here are some questions to ask yourself when choosing where to being organizing your home:
- Where do you spend most of your waking hours? Unless you work from home, you probably spend most of your hours there in your bedroom, but then again you probably spend most of those asleep. I’d imagine that most of you spend most of your home life in some kind of “living room” or “front room”, but only you know your situation.
- Where do you want to spend your devotional time with God? If the answer is the same as the question above, then we probably have our starting point, but either way you should pick one or two places for a consistent place of devotion, which will help you stick to your schedule and priorities.
- Where do you want to start? When it comes down to it, you will want to start where your greatest need is and you probably already know that place, so start there!
Where do you want to start organizing your home for an organized Christian life?
